The 2012 Vestry Formed

At the annual meeting on January 29th, Sharon Simes, Gail Scheible, and The Honorable Suzanne Barnett were elected to the Vestry. Susan Scott, Tim Helming and Eleanor Goodall have retired from the Vestry. Special thanks to Susan, Tim and Eleanor for serving during a very challenging time for our parish.

New Outreach Program

A new outreach program begins at St. Clement’s on January 22nd. Every 4thSunday of the month will be MISSION SUNDAY focused on supporting an existing mission in our community. These missions will include Mary’s Place, NW Harvest, Seattle Animal Shelter, the Rainier Beach Family Center (a program of the Atlantic Street Center) and various missions for the homeless. You may be asked for blankets and towels, undergarments, non- perishables and dog/cat food.

Remember MISSION SUNDAY. Flag your calendar, Blackberry, iPhone or, for low Techies, tie a string around your finger. The needs are great so let’s respond greatly.

Seattle in Black and White

In celebration of the 120th Anniversary of St. Clement, Maid Adams, Jean Durning, Bettylou Valentine and Joan Singler, the authors of Seattle in Black and White/The Congress of Racial Equality and the Fight for Equal Opportunity, will appear at St. Clement on Martin Luther King's birthday (observed), Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 12:00 pm. A book signing will follow the presentation by these founding members of the Seattle branch of the Congress of Racial Equality who drew on their memories and extensive archival research to document a period of activities in Seattle which paralleled fundamental changes in the rest of the country during the 1960s and '70s. Refreshments will be served.
