The Mount Baker Children’s Choir (MBCC), sponsored by St. Clement of Rome Episcopal Church, will be open to children ages 8 to 16 and will focus on basic singing technique, sight-reading and performance.
The Mount Baker Children’s Choir will rehearse every Sunday from 12pm to 12:30pm beginning Sunday, September 25, 2011 at St. Clement of Rome Episcopal Church – 1501 32nd Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98144, and will culminate in three performances – a church service, a winter carol concert and a spring concert.
Each program will incorporate singing and readings pertinent to the program. The fee is $25 per participant due by September 25, 2011, and will be used to cover sheet music, accompanist and music supplies for the entire year. Scholarships available upon request. Participants will be required to attend rehearsals and the scheduled concerts.
The choir will be divided into two groups – and older group and a younger group. Each group will be learning the same music, but the musicianship training (sight singing and ear training) will be adjusted to give each member a challenge. Groups will be also mixed throughout the year to give some mentoring opportunities for older children. The Mount Baker Children’s Choir will be directed by Markdavin Obenza and Sarra Sharif.
